Kumbhmela is largest religious gathering in India focusing on around 100 lakh people visiting the 50 Sq.Km in around 45 days time every 12 years. This time on the extravaganza was in August and September 2015.

The entire solution is designed on IP cameras, servers with Virtualization and on multiple gigabit network links backbone with redundancy and wireless fallbacks.
GIS mapping is achieved with NSRC (ISRO) data which gives clear vision till 5 meters distance and is being customized first time in India for such project work. The GIS data platform is also used to show resource mapping for utilization of services as required for authorities.
As per above shape-files the coverage of Resourcesat-2/L4-FMX (resolution of 5 mtrs and coverage of 70X70 km area) and Cartosat-1 (resolution of 2.5 mtrs and coverage of 27X27 kms area) data sets was verified and the details of the suitable images is used to get accuracies of images
Layer 2 backbone network with .1Q where link aggregations are done on major links giving fallback and multiple routes to points is key feature of networking. As many as four ways to reach major points like Kushwart kund, Trimbak main temple are done. The total areas are split in three ring and three outer parking routes broadly. One inner ring works for Kushwart kund, second inner ring caters Main temple, and third outer ring covers all the vicinity areas. Outer parking inner bus stands are other three parts to cater where wireless links are given as fall back to them.
Three rings are interconnected with copper to create redundancy. Also wireless are used as fallback to the fiber network. One link to hill is also kept ready in case if any place goes down from catering area which is accessible from any where in the catering area. This link directly from police station can be accessed from any place, if any link goes down for major maintenance in very short time we can bring-up a redundancy.
To manage activity schedule and day to day process we are using custom made ERP module of 24x7ERP Business Solutions is used. This records all the activities and allotment of man power for work along with the process management for customer complaints. This system gives activity to activity details of system It also keeps track of complaints raised by respective authorities.
Data processing wise there is Blade Server which is catering the compute needs. Dahua DSS is also there which is recording box recording the data from the cameras. The raw feeds are being copied from DSS to secondary storage. We have also kept a NAS hardware which is keeping the data backed up at our office out of the building to keep redundancy.
Video management being very resource thirsty, entire system is working on 1 GBPS connectivity to maximum locations. Backbone of the system is 52 GBPS which makes data flow manageable to great extent and does not hold any blockages/ bandwidth chockups for video management

Total networking is spread with 62 KM fiber, 15 KM of Copper, 14 KM of Power cabling and 14 Wireless backup links glance of the same is in following
Control room infrastructure includes 24 screens, 24 desktop/laptops to give 100% camera availability to minimize risk of skipping of incidences due to less number of screens.
Two teams were deployed for peak off-peak data searching to enable investigation of untoward incidences happening in town.
For IP communication Neox IP exchange is deployed for communication on the end points in case of Disaster. All Viewing centers are given connection with major points like kushwart kund, Trimbakeshwar temple, Disaster Recovery site at Udasin Akahada shopping mall, are covered in this aspect. Major parking places have mobile range/ landline absence the ip phones to these places will enable access on phone due to this service.
System at data center is backed up with 10 KV 3 Phase ups with backuped ups of 5 KV which will support in case of major failure. Generator of 35 KV is also kept ready for longer failures at control center this Generator is support Control and command center’s whole requirement.
In case of networking the rings are supported with sufficient wireless links to give backup to system There is one link which is setup from control roll to Hill top which is accessible from all parts of city
Major milestones of project:
Started working on project in mid March 2014 when A large IT company started creating the project bid document. In between the concern stopped working due to non-feasibility of project due to rental basis for their institutions. Later on with pre bid meeting and post surveys we started on our own to explore the project. With able handshake of Universal Communications Nashik the association came along and we were successful in grabbing the prestigious project. With some hickups in process the issue was taken ahead in mid April and started work on Tuesday, April 21 Akshay Tritiya 2015 with team standing in thick and thin biggest challenge was creation of strong backbone for the network to stand on and decision to do own network stood by our endeavor to get best solution. With almost entire backbone ready by end of May we were ready to roll out our services well in given time frame.
Installation of Towers, Wireless links, secondary links and ancillary services took around 30th May and then came the services installation and camera installation phase and roll out of services. By 13-14th June all major cameras were in place except parking internal and external, That too was delayed cause of security and concerns of asset security. Mighty challenge was getting power at almost 80 locations of project which was achieved with help of local help and MSEB giving helping hand to the project.
